Trinity Rep Receives TWELVE IRNE Nods

Resident acting company, directors and designers represented in 2012 reviewers’ pool

Trinity Repertory Company is pleased to announce that it has received a dozen nominations for the 2012 Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards.

Artists and actors represented in the nominee pool for work at Trinity Repertory Company are: the casts of His Girl Friday and Clybourne Park for Best Ensemble; Angela Brazil (Best supporting actress in a drama for The Completely Fictional – Utterly True – Final Strange Tale of Edgar Allan Poe), Brian McEleney (best actor in a drama for Edgar Allan Poe), Anne Scurria (best supporting actress in a drama for Steel Magnolias), Fred Sullivan, Jr. (best actor for His Girl Friday), and Joe Wilson, Jr. (best supporting actor in a drama for Edgar Allan Poe)

Resident sound designer Peter Sasha Hurowitz was nominated for his work on Edgar Allan Poe, as well as set designer Susan Zeeman Rogers for the same production. Artistic Director Curt Columbus was nominated for best director of a drama for His Girl Friday.

Resident company member Stephen Thorne was nominated for best new play for his original work, The Completely Fictional – Utterly True – Final Strange Tale of Edgar Allan Poe. Edgar Allan Poe also received a nod for best play along with His Girl Friday.

The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) are a panel of critics from media outlets around Rhode Island and Massachusetts that honor the best of the New England theater season with their annual awards. This year’s ceremony will take place on Monday, April 23, 2012.
