Providence Preservation Society Annual Awards

Each year the Providence Preservation Society recognizes significant contributions to the preservation and revitalization of Providence’s historic resources. The awards recognize significant contributions in the field of historic preservation made by both individuals and organizations. Recognition encompasses the categories of preservation construction projects as well as preservation initiatives.

Preservation Construction Projects

These awards honor the renovation or restoration of historic buildings as well as new construction that contributes to the built environment. Eligible construction projects include renovation or restoration of historic buildings or sites and design/construction of new buildings in historic areas which are in harmony with the surrounding buildings and enhance the urban fabric in the following categories:

  • Adaptive Reuse
  • Public Buildings
  • Residential/Institutional
  • Landscape Architecture/Open Space
  • Material Conservation
  • Urban Planning or Revitalization
  • Neighborhood Revitalization

Construction projects must be completed, and have been completed no more than three years ago at the time of the nomination.
