Resident Designer

Mr. Lee’s current projects include The Seafarer at Seattle Rep; Wally Shawn’s new play Grasses of a Thousand Colors in London; and The Fantasticks at Arena Stage. He just completed Will Ferrell’s You’re Welcome America, a Final Night with George W. Bush, both on Broadway and for HBO. He was recently the keynote speaker at the SETC Conference in Alabama. Mr. Lee holds BFAs from the Art Institute of Chicago and Carnegie Mellon University, a MFA from Yale School of Drama, and honorary PhDs from DePaul University, Rhode Island College, and the Rhode Island School of Design. Awards include: the Tony, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Pell Award, American Theatre Wing’s Design Award, Lucille Lortel Award, Boston Critics Circle Award,  Rhode Island Governor’s Arts Award, and the Elliott Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence. Mr. Lee designs NBC’s Saturday Night Live, and is represented not only on Broadway, but also nationally and internationally, by the musical Wicked, now with eight companies performing. He was recently inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame. He lives with his wife Brooke and their dog George in Providence, where they raised their two sons.
