Our Young Actors Summer Institute (YASI) programs have historically been some of the most comprehensive summer arts enrichment programs in New England. Led by experienced, enthusiastic local artists and educators, YASI can help students from kindergarten through high school develop confidence, make new friends, and have plenty of summer fun. Welcoming students of all abilities, YASI offers a variety of classes so there’s something for everyone!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our typical structure of students moving through multiple classes per day will not be used this summer. In an effort to grow our in-person offerings smartly and safely, we’ll instead hold several one-week camps with stable pods of students this summer. Join us for just one class or all six weeks of camp!

FINANCIAL AID

Please fill out the Financial Aid Application BEFORE registering for a summer camp. Once your application is processed (allow 3 – 5 business days) you will be given a discount code to register. Financial aid is need-based only and applicants must fill out the form and complete an essay to be considered. Payment plans are also available. Email education@trinityrep.com with all inquiries.

Please Note: All students must submit a $50 non-refundable deposit to hold a spot in the program. Email education@trinityrep.com if this is cost prohibitive for your family.

One-Week Camps (In Person)

Students can register for multiple weeks or just one that piques their interest. Some camps (YASI Players and YASI One Acts) may require a pre-meeting for script reading and casting. All in-person programs are held in well-ventilated facilities with social distancing and ample opportunity for outdoor time. Students will remain in stable pods with the same counselor/lead teaching artist all week. For more information about Trinity Rep’s COVID-19 Safety Precautions, click here.

Throughout the week we’ll explore different ideas through play and improv, combining different ideas to create something totally unique. On the last day, students will share theatrical pieces based on their explorations. Bring an open mind and a curious spirit as we jump into the world of theater-making through creative play!

In YASI Players, young actors rehearse, stage, and perform a brand-new family-friendly play in one week!  Written by a local artist, students will be the first to ever perform in a brand-new production, and in doing so, will get a behind-the-scenes look at the opening of a brand-new show. Previous plays include The Kids Go Down Below by Rodney Witherspoon II, The Many Lives of Fancy Devereaux and Rose & Iris by David Rabinow and Little Big State and The Whale in the Hudson by Bradley Wilson.

Everyone who registers will be cast in the play. Priority casting is given to elder students. Depending on the COVID-19 situation, we will either perform for a limited audience outdoors on Friday afternoon (7/29) or film and share with families.
