In order to more fully engage our community in dialogue, Trinity Rep’s work extends beyond our thrilling subscription series season and the Brown/Trinity Rep MFA programs. Throughout the year, we offer limited engagement productions and special events that reinvent the public square in new and dynamic ways.
Teatro en El Verano
A bilingual Shakespeare production, in partnership with Rhode Island Latino Arts (RILA) that tours Providence with performances that are free, open to the public, and appropriate for all ages. In 2017 Shakespeare en el Verano toured a new English-Spanish adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, and in 2018, they will tour a production of The Tempest. Learn more.
And So We Walked Staged Reading
December 5 & 6, 2017 – 7:30 pm
Hosted alongside Brown University Arts Initiative and Yale University, Trinity Rep will have two staged readings in the Dowling Theater of AND SO WE WALKED: An Artist’s Journey Along the Trail of Tears, a frank, heartwarming and inspiring story about a contemporary Cherokee woman and her father who embark on an incredible 900-mile journey along the Trail of Tears to truly understand her own identity and the conflicts of her nation.

Just Like Us Reading
Monday, October 16, 2017 – 7:00 pm
Rhode Island Latino Arts (RILA) and Trinity Repertory Company co-hosted a reading of Just Like Us, by Karen Zacarías at Trinity Rep’s Lederer Theater Center. The play is based on the real story of DREAMers and shows the human cost of ending DACA.
