Effective January 8, 2025, US, Canadian, and many non-European passport holders must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter or transit through the UK if they do not possess a valid UK visa. If you previously travelled with just your passport for routine trips,  you are no longer able to without an ETA. Travelers must secure their ETA before departure to avoid issues with flight boarding or UK entry. An ETA costs £16 and will last for 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever is sooner. They are typically processed within 1-3 business days. For information and to apply, visit: https://www.gov.uk/eta
