We offer a wide array of performance classes for adults of all experience levels and interests.

Financial Aid  

Please fill out the Financial Aid Application before registering for a class.

Once your application is processed, you will receive a discount code to use at registration. Allow 10 business days for processing.

If you register for a class without your discount code, we will need to cancel your original registration and will not be able to refund credit card fees. You will then need to re-register for the class using your discount code to receive the financial aid.

Financial aid is need-based only, and applicants must fill out the form and complete a personal statement to be considered. Payment plans are also available. Email education@trinityrep.com with all inquiries.

Introduction to Performance

This course introduces students to basic acting and performance techniques, including connecting with another actor, building a character, improvisation, and establishing emotional resonance. Projects may range from monologues and character-building to scene study and improvisation, all with a focus on each student’s individual strengths.  The class approaches dramatic arts by fusing acting, voice, and movement, and challenges students to dig deep into characterization, language, physicality, and textual analysis.  

This course may require rehearsal time outside of the classroom. Class size is limited to 12 students.

Beginning Acting

Before an actor begins telling stories in front of audiences, they must learn to be comfortable on stage. This class teaches students how to establish presence and confidence onstage. The progression begins with voice and movement exercises to build a foundational vocabulary, followed by activities in improvisation, clowning, physical acting, and scene study. The class culminates in monologue presentations that play to each student’s individual needs and strengths. Students of all abilities are encouraged to attend.  

Class size is limited to 12 students.

This introductory acting class is designed for people from all walks of life who are interested in exploring basic acting skills, as well as developing essential life skills such as confidence, focus, critical thinking, and public speaking.  The class introduces students to acting techniques through exercises, monologues, and scene study. The class will give special attention to strengthening skills in physical presence and character development.   

Some rehearsal outside of class time may be required. Class size is limited to 12 students. 

Specialty Classes

Theater for Social Change

May 6 – June 10, 2026
Thursdays, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Over six weeks, students will explore how theater can be a vehicle for social change. The course includes reading excerpts of plays and essays that highlight the intersections between theater, individual lived experience, and larger societal issues, followed by rigorous class discussion and introspection. Students will participate in games and movement exercises to develop skills for social change-oriented performance and artistic expression. Emphasizing personal growth and community, the course culminates in a brief solo or ensemble performance to highlight social issues the class finds compelling.

Students in this course receive one (1) complementary ticket to the Thursday, June 10 performance of the musical Next to Normal for class discussion.  This intermediate acting class introduces participants to more complex methods of scene study and characterization, with a focus on script analysis, blocking, and making informed character choices. Participants will develop an understanding of story beats and character objectives as they work in two to three person scenes. Participants will select monologues and scenes from published plays to work on in this class. The class culminates in a presentation of scenes for family and friends. 

Class is limited to 12 students. This course requires rehearsal outside of class and memorization of monologues and scenes.  Email education@trinityrep.com for permission to register. Upon acceptance, students will receive a class registration link via email.

Advanced Acting Classes

Advanced Scene Study

This advanced scene study class is designed for experienced actors, with a goal of strengthening students’ unique artistic voices. Actors will keenly analyze complex theatrical texts and delve deeper into character study. Participants will select a scene from a favorite play to workshop, either as a monologue or with a scene partner assigned in class. The instructor may also recommend material to participants to increase their skill, technique, and range. Rehearsal outside of class time is strongly encouraged.  

Class is limited to 12 actors. Please prepare a two-minute monologue and bring a copy of your favorite play/scene for the first day of class.  Previous acting experience, whether on stage or in a classroom setting, is required to enroll.
